Member Update - November 2016

October Recap

New Products & Benefits

  • Snipcart Ecommerce - a beautiful widget for building online stores. Updated mid-month to include product options and subscription / recurring billing products.

  • Connect Series Widgets - an exciting new series of widgets that use Google Spreadsheets to load content and control extensive settings. The first of its kind in Muse, these widgets give your clients / customers control over editing content without ever opening Muse.

  • Sidebar Connect - multi-level sidebar navigation menu. Uses a Google Spreadsheet (or simple CSV) to load content, and control menu sublevels.

  • Gallery Connect - a package of 7 powerful media galleries for displaying images, video and audio. Easily load content through an online spreadsheet and your site updates instantly. Perfect for clients or customers who want to manage galleries on their site.

  • 4 new product tutorial videos

The response to our Connect series of widgets has been amazing! Users immediately sent in examples of large, elaborate galleries built using Connect and they worked beautifully. To give your clients the ability to edit those galleries through a simple spreadsheet interface is a huge step forward for content management in Muse.

We’re planning to build and release many more Connect series widgets over the coming months, so stay tuned!

    Existing Product Improvements:

In October our development team focused on tackling the highest priority bugs and most requested improvements to our products:

    • Rapid Reveal - Added option to open Read More links in new window, in addition to opening in the same window

    • SHOW Responsive Video Suite - Fixed bug in the Self Hosted Gallery widget causing the same videos to repeat in consecutive rows, and videos displaying in columns instead of rows

    • Ecwid Ecommerce - Added responsiveness and other upgrades to search bar and category tabs widgets, added "Chameleon Skin" option, which allows the Ecwid Store to automatically inherit text color from text on the same page

    • Cinch Slideshow - Added custom prev/next buttons, placement of captions

    • Social Sprites - Added several new social channel options, icon styles, and animations

    November Projects & Priorities

(please note priorities and projects are subject to change)

    New Projects:

    • CMS Training - it’s time to find out if the 3rd party CMS system we’ve been exploring will work for our users needs. To get things started, we’re going to push out training that will outline how to install this CMS in Muse (without any additional widgets). If the feedback and response is positive, we’ll dig deep into the system and explore how far we can expand it. We had originally planned to push this out last month, however we wanted to review it together as a team (in person) at Adobe MAX. This is a high priority item for November 2016.

    • Stacks - originally planned for last month, we’re aiming to push our next pack o’ stacks out within 2 weeks.

    • Photo Filters - a simple widget that allows you to apply photo filters / effects to images without needing an image editing app (like Photoshop). Effects include blurring, color overlays, black & white and more.

    • Age Verification Widget - the team has seen a big increase in requests for an age verification / access widget for sites that require it (alcohol, adult, etc.) Our widget has been fully built, and is currently in final testing.

    Final Thoughts

    Muse 2017 Update

Adobe has released a new version of Muse that focused mainly on bug-fixes and performance improvements. There are a few new features to explore – check out the full release notes here: https://helpx.adobe.com/ca/muse/using/whats-new.html

We’ve been testing our products in the latest version for a few months, and no major issues were presented. Users are safe to update to the newest version. If you do encounter any bugs or conflicts with MuseThemes products, please send us a note immediately and we’ll get it fixed up right away (contact us).

That’s it for October! We’re back from Adobe MAX in San Diego, and excited to build some great new products. Thanks as always for your support.

    Cheers
    SH

Muse would be better if there were a built-in table widget like the one in Dreamweaver. Would appreciate if Abode considered for the next update of Muse.

Hey Steve…whatever happened to the Superhero slideshow widget? I was looking forward to that but it wasn’t mentioned in your update.

@Robert – we could make a table widget that uses our “Connect” series (CSV based)

@Jesse – good catch! It’s actually ready to go, we’re just trying to find a good week to slot it in for release. Maybe we can push this out as a beta on our forum (http://forum.musethemes.com/forums/beta-testing.28/) so you can get your hands on it right away?

Muse is great, no doubt about that. But one thing is still missing: automatic hyphenation. When will this be part of Muse?

I’m uber excited about the CMS training!!! If I am able to offer this it will bring in so much business! I was so pumped for Agent but I understand why it wasn’t released. I’m building a website now and I know this client will need a CMS (they are not fans of the Adobe Muse in-browser editing.)

That CMS widget will be KING.

Do you have widget that will install tracking code into the script. Much like the google analytics widget but one for any code you need inserted but hidden?

I’m very happy with MuseThemes. Above all, I’m fan of the Superhero widget that works very well. A CMS widget and a table widget would be great. I’m looking forward to them.

It would be great if you could create a way to lock the screen orientation for both tablet and phone devices. Since most people view the tablet horizontally and view the phone vertically, we design and build sites with that in mind.
