Adobe Muse Responsive - New MuseThemes Products & Pricing
It’s been a long 4 months since Adobe announced responsive design was coming to Adobe Muse, with an early 2016 release date.
Well last we checked early 2016 had arrived, and we’re so excited about what we’ve got coming your way. Our entire team has been working day and night (consuming only coffee and cookies) to prep our new products and get you up to speed quickly with Responsive Adobe Muse.
We’re also implementing a new pricing structure for future members. Don’t worry though, all of our current members will keep their original pricing – we will always honor our agreement with you. As long as you renew your membership, your original membership rate is grandfathered in.
It’s time to get excited – here’s what we’ve got in store!
Adobe Muse: Responsive Design Made Easy
VIDEO TRAINING SERIES
Between MuseThemes training and my past work for Lynda.com, I’ve probably recorded over 1,000 screencast training videos. With that said, I’m most proud of my new responsive series. It’s fun and casual, to the point, and it covers responsive Muse in-depth. Chapters include an overview of all interface changes in Muse, an outline of how the responsive menu options work, and most importantly our top five “Golden Rules” – essential design tips to save you a ton of time and headaches with responsive Muse.
I’ve also included a chapter called “How It’s Made” – a four-part series explaining how to implement real world responsive techniques, along with members-only demo files so you can learn by doing.
The team at MuseThemes was lucky to receive early access to Muse and I’m excited to share everything we’ve learned over the last several months with our members. We want you to be successful with the new Muse, and that’s the driving force behind producing this extensive series.
New Widgets / Updated Tools
Our developer Kevin (kevlar dev) and widget product manager Brandon (brando) have had their hands full re-engineering our current widgets. Aside from the fact that we have over 100 of them, Responsive Muse presents some interesting challenges. Without getting too technical (and breaking our non-disclosure), we’ve ensured all of our current widgets are compatible with the new version, and have even implemented fully responsive functionality in many of our most popular tools.
We’ve also taken advantage of great new widget option panel features in Responsive Muse. Gone are the days of limited options and panels that extend off the top and bottom of the page. Get ready for extensive customization controls in all of our new widgets AND our existing ones, as we go through and add exciting new options.
Of course we couldn’t leave you without something new to play with right out of the gate. We’ve got a couple of amazing responsive widgets ready to rock, that will set the new standard for responsive third-party widgets in Muse. Kudos to Kevin and Brandon!
Themes, Stacks, and Skins
Flexible and EASY to edit
Through an immense effort led by our art director, Christopher (kristoph), we’re ready to deliver a beautiful new responsive Muse theme perfect for featuring any portfolio, along with some exciting new options. Starting with this first portfolio template, our themes will now come with “skins," – or alternate styles – that demonstrate the true flexibility of our layouts. Built first as a simple wireframe (which is also available), our new responsive themes are lightweight, much faster to edit, and easier to use for a variety of businesses. Perfect for your client or personal sites!
Next, a few weeks after the responsive launch we are shipping an experimental product called Stacks. Stacks are responsive Muse content blocks, that can be combined to build a full site very quickly. Using a pre-defined breakpoint system, you can drag a header, content area, or footer stack into your site, and restyle it to match your brand.
We’re stoked about Stacks, and we hope you are too.
$69 ONE-TIME fee & $9/MONTH
MuseThemes is a membership website – we have never sold single widgets. We truly believe there is great value in creating a community of like-minded Muse designers, who produce and build high-quality products and training materials. Our customer support team (consisting of six super talented people) is here to ensure that you’re successful working with our product and Muse in general.
This is a product that we will maintain for you. Our widgets, training videos, and themes are constantly updated and all of our new products are built based on our member requests. There are huge benefits to letting someone else handle the heavy lifting – just look at sites like Airbnb, where you can vacation in luxury without the costs of home upkeep and ownership. If you use our products you’re not alone, and you can lean on us for support to help your business grow.
Starting in February 2016, our prices will change from a flat annual fee, to a $69 up-front membership payment and a $9 monthly subscription. Here are the details:
- The $69 initiation fee gives you immediate access to our current library of products and training – you can download everything and cancel immediately after if you wish (and keep everything you have downloaded).
- The $9 monthly fee continues your access to all of our future products and training, as well some new goodies we're cooking up – live training webinars, wireframes, theme skins and of course, all of our awesome new widgets.
- Active members will receive priority support - we will continue to help everyone, however a perk of the membership is faster ticket response times.
- You will never be charged the initiation fee again as long as you keep your subscription active.
Keep everything you download - no strings attached!
This pricing change does not apply to existing members! We entered an agreement at a specific price and we will never change that. As long as you renew your membership, you will always receive your original signup price with no strings attached (you're grandfathered in).
We hope you’re as excited about the future as we are – thanks again for supporting MuseThemes.com!
~ Steve Harris
A Huge fan of you guys from day one, this is big exciting news and as a member i am very much looking forward the launch- Go MT !
Hey John – if you’re an existing member you can just keep paying annually (at your original rate). Our system works just like before for our members.
When you say the new pricing will come into effect during February. Can new subscribers still join at the current price, if so up until when, a couple of weeks?
I am using Adobe Muse, your widgets and themes often to create small but good looking sites for my customers. Can’t wait to go RESPONSIVE with MUSE!
We’ve been pushing the capabilities of Muse and your widgets pretty hard. I can’t wait to see your tutorials and try out the new widgets!
So what is the launch date for the responsive? Is it something that can be applied to existing sites or is it separate themes that will need to be created from scratch?
Nice, looking forward… But can someone tell me when the update Muse 2016 will be ready? I think it is taking too long, shifting project towards januari, and now to februari….
Will someone let me know when my year subscription is up for renewal?
Hey everyone! Very exciting news. Looking forward to everything. Quick question: was there a place to download some of the responsive widgets you’ve been working on. I thought I read you had a few to test.
Because I am deaf, will your training videos be captioned? I hope so because I love Muse and would love to learn more!
What great timing! I just signed a contract today to design a website for a new client of mine. Luckily I´ve got to redesign his logo first. Is there any chance I could make his site responsive when I start next month?
Hi Steve, Is this only an announcement or is it already possible to getting used to it? Can’t discover anything to click on. Perhaps it’s because I’m Dutch and don’t understand your blog.
Thank you for the heads up! You are amazing.
Any idea when Adobe will launch Muse update w Responsive?
Can’t wait for responsive muse and quality widgets & themes from muse-themes. The anticipation is killing me…
Ditto that! Huge fan of your work and Muse in general. I have to stop talking about it to clients, although they do seem interested and are not asleep. Keep up the great work and I hope you ask me to collaborate with you soon. ; ) Many Thanks Andy (UK) Creative Director – Pureprint Group
I was contemplating re-joining muse-themes as i’m already a yearly active member of a few other content sites as well. I like the idea of $69 per year, BUT, this new structure is actually WAY more expensive if i’m understanding it correctly.
If I pay a $69 fee AND maintain with $9 a month, I’m now paying $177/year to access the exact same thing I used to for only $69.
Your new price structure is a MASSIVE increase (more than DOUBLE) in cost for loyal members. I’m having a hard time swallowing that pill and thinking that this is actually a benefit to me, when I can maintain similar memberships with other major producers like muse-themes for under $70/year (and I’m active on several of them).
I LOVE muse-themes, you all do some amazing work and I’m thankful for your efforts… I just don’t see the new price structure as a positive when the price at the end of the is essentially DOUBLE :(
I know Muse is in beta with responsive design, but when are they going to release the new version to the public?
@Jeremiah – I can understand your concern. If you join in the next few days, you’ll only pay $69 per year (as you did before) and we’ll never change your price.
If you wait to join again, you would pay the initiation fee and the 9 / monthly. We only charge that initiation fee once, so if you maintain your monthly membership you’ll never pay it again.
All of our existing members retain their current pricing – we will never change that. We have members grandfathered back to our $39 price point 3 years ago.
Re: other sites – you’re right, there are definitely other providers out there selling subscriptions. But I’m very confident we put a lot more into our site – aside from the videos, support, tutorials, etc we also have a large team (10+ people) building these products and helping support members. We believe our new responsive training series is worth the membership price alone.
We don’t sell single products for a reason, we want this site to be about more than just moving products. We standby everything we build – updates, improvements, support, etc. For users who want just a single widget, I think most would choose other sites (and that’s ok with us). Hope this helps clarify our change – many thanks for your support.
Thank you, Steve for all of your superb training videos. I also use lynda.com and refer to that training site for many years and have over 100 completed course with lynda.com, so I look forward to seeing your training with that organization. I want to thank all members of Muse-Themes for their diligent and highly professional work that makes my web design company grow and prosper.
Recently motor menu widget would not find the “home” page and thanks to your staff member Darian, he found the issue and solved the problem and now it works fine with mobile sites. A great Muse widget designed by your team.
I immediately joined Muse-Themes when it first launched and it was one of the best decisions I made for Muse development!
I’m so glad I’m grandfathered in. You guys and gals do a great job! Do we know when Adobe will release responsive Muse?
Great news! When are you planning to go live with all this?
@David – Wow, that’s a lot of Lynda courses! I actually have several courses up on Lynda.com already, I’ve been doing that training for many years. Here’s a link: http://www.lynda.com/Steve-Harris/1539579-1.html
I really appreciate your comments! I’ll pass them along to the team. Cheers!
@All – unfortunately we don’t know when Adobe plans to release responsive. We were just super excited about all our new stuff, and wanted to share it with you ;)
I’m an exisiting member so am stoked that I’m still only going to have to pay $69 per year. I would happily pay the new payment structure, Steve – since it still represents terrific value for money!
Can I retrofit responsive design into my clients sites without a total rebuild?
Hi, In a way this blog post is good timing for me, as I was about to sign up again after a brief time without using Muse enough – but the website is already showing a charge level of $79.
So what is the price now – $69 a year, $79 a year or $79 plus $9 a month? I echo the above comments – really don’t like monthly payments.
Hopefully the $69 a year plan is available to sign up to for a few more days?
@john – you can definitely convert existing sites to responsive. It’s a bit of work, but we do cover that in a training video in our new series!
@Stewart – go ahead and use coupon code: DIRECTORY10 to save 10 bucks on your signup! That will lock you in at $69 per year forever (if you renew).
@Steven – thanks for your comments! We really intend on giving our members extra value with this change in pricing. Appreciate your feedback :)
Muse-Themes is a God-send and I am in awe of your Customer relations and Customer service. Your product is worth so much more than what you are changing but for us “little” folks struggling to keep our heads above water in small business, your product pricing and your willingness to honor your oldest clients is note-worthy in today’s business model. Thank you!
Hi Steve, love the work you guys are doing. I can truly say that since I became a member and have taken advantage of all the tools you provide through the MuseThemes site, my designs have stepped up in game and my clients are very happy.
Looking forward to the new tools in 2016
Sorry, I think I broke something with the post above :(
Steve and the WHOLE MuseThemes team are the best support organization I’ve ever come across on the web.
I have become totally dependent on you folks for ALL things Adobe Muse. Without your support and product development, things would have been much more time consuming and difficult for me in my Muse efforts….
I can’t thank this group enough and wish all of you continued success!!! I’ll be right here behind you hangin’ on to your coattails. LOL
That’s a great news. I will keep my annual subscription active. The tutorials at Linda and some in this site are already updated?
Although this is very exciting, I signed up to do the early trial of the new responsive design feature version, as they were asking for muse users to test it out.
The program kept crashing on me all the time… is this something that will have been fixed, or who do I talk to about it? I have never had this issue with previous versions.
Apart from that, I want to say thank you so so much for everything you guys have provided! I always recommend muse-themes!
Hey Steve, Congrats to the entire team, also, great to see you’re landing on Lynda. Looking forward to all things Responsive.
Steve muse-themes rocks learning a lot, kindly increase your repository of themes, we want more themes, as muse-themes stands out of the crowd. We want muse-themes to grow.
Hi, great news.
Iam looking forward to the updates since 6-7 month.
Do you want to redesign the old templates for the responsive update?
Really excited to hear the news and how MUSE continues to evolving. Love using it and great that you are constantly aware of the needs of both designers and techies to delivery great looking and functioning websites for our customers . . . look forward to our continued partnership :-)
Thanks guys! Seems like you’ve put a lot of work in what’s coming and I can’t wait to try it out! And thanks for grandfathering us in, much appreciated. :)
Thank you for providing an awesome services. And thank you for allowing members to be grandfathered.
Although, you had stated most of the video training is on Lynda.com along with “Adobe Muse: Responsive Design Made Easy,” I was wondering why on Lynda.com? Why not on Youtube? I thought our yearly membership we have access to video training?
I bring this up because of the cost factor. To gain access to your video training is another monthly / yearly fee for Lynda.com. Besides Muse-Theme other sites supporting Muse with widgets, templates, and training have started or about to start a subscription to access their goods. This is adding a high cost per year, I couldn’t imagine those on a budget can afford so many subscription. (Are you guys a republican
So, besides members paying the $69.00 yearly, there is another additional fees to view Muse-theme’s training videos through Lynda.com? Crazy! If so, what is our $69.00 membership for?
PS – “I’ve also included a chapter called “How It’s Made” – a four-part series explaining how to implement real world responsive techniques, along with members-only demo files so you can learn by doing.”
I can’t find the four-part series? Where is the link? Working with the beta Muse responsive release and have the last release before the final product goes live. It’s a learning experience. If your new video series is available will be a great help!
@lou – our Responsive training is only available on our site (MuseThemes). It is not part of Lynda.com. I was just saying that I had recorded for Lynda for years, and done many videos for them. This training definitely has nothing to do with them.
Unfortunately our videos can’t be released until the responsive version of Muse goes live. It’s against our NDA to put them out early, even for members ;(
@toby – we have updated a few of our old themes to responsive. We will probably do more as time goes on, however we wanted to focus more on new responsive themes initially. Our most popular and recent sites will definitely be converted.
@Elise – the app is much more stable now! It was terrible in the early beta, but we don’t encounter bugs very often anymore.
Steve, Thanks for the fast reply! Understood. I can’t wait to see your videos! Every Muse-theme videos has been awesome, besides your products.
What about some of the updated old themes to responsive, are they available? If so, which templates?
Yes, early beta version was sooooo buggy! Not with the last beta release, been a pleasure to play with. Although, there is a setback, can’t use ANY “scroll effects” if website is in fluid designed mode. This is a major setback! The only time we can apply any of the scroll effects is in fixed mode and then no responsive pages. I was told the scroll effects will not be part of the new version when Muse goes live, only for fixed layouts, but not responsive fluid layout. Not good.
Anyhow, I’m looking forward to see what Muse-themes is coming out with for the New Muse -can’t wait!
Men Cant wait for all this i am glad i made the right choose singing up for Musethemes.. U guys rock wish i could give all the team a big hag – keep it up
I’m one of muse-themes biggest advocates. So I’ excited to see where you take muse-themes as Adobe Muse goes responsive. I’ve been waiting on this since day one!!! You guys have made it so easy to push design limits with adobe muse sites with your widgets. So keep doing what you’re doing. I plan on winning another muse site of day soon at this rate…Cheers!!!
Stacks sounds cool. Be interested to see what that involves. Nice one.
My subscription ends 2/26, will I be auto renewed? I’ve been using you all for years and love the widgets and templates you have created. Your support and blogs are great tools as well.
Your always my first “go to Muse site” when something doesn’t work right with Muse.
Keep up the great work!
French being my first language, I’m not sure about some formulations or expressions (like grandfathered. So about your new price structure, what is not clear, for members who are already signed up (and the one who will join before x date), is:
a) There is no change to our membership. i.e., we pay once a year the amount we originally paid when we joined ($39, $59, $69…etc.) and that’s it, we have NO monthly fee
Only new members will be on a monthly basis, with a one-time charge (forever?) of $69.
Thank you for clarifying this point.
I love muse-themes so much that it just landed me a good job with a good company.
more themes in the near future would do more good for us.
Thanks Steve and your team.
Greetings from Ghana
My subscription ends on February 17! I will always be to renew the annual subscription of $ 69 US dollars wonder why is very tedious be paying monthly … Greetings and good work go on …
Love you guys!
When can we expect some new responsive themes?
