Announcing Our New Venture!

We're very excited to introduce a new project that our team has been planning and building behind the scenes at MuseThemes. We’ve created a new web design tool and training site focused on one goal: building websites without writing code, and without limitations.

Our new website is called:
Without Code  –  www.WOCode.com

Without Code gives us the ability to share all of the knowledge and experience we have in no-code web design platforms outside of Muse. These include Shopify, WordPress, as well as an exciting customized website builder and content management system, which will be available exclusively to our members.

A Platform for Code Free Website Creation

Over a year ago we began to see a trend – many of our customers were forced to use website creation tools other than Muse to take advantage of more powerful functionality, such as blogging, ecommerce, and password protection. We believe in using the correct tool for the job, and since no single website builder can do everything, our journey into platform independence began.

After conducting focus groups with customers in December 2017, we realized that our customers were struggling to use these alternative platforms. They needed a resource site like MuseThemes to lean on – there’s nothing quite like having a trusted developer or designer in your back pocket to help when you need it!

We realized we could be adding a lot more value to your membership.

Our extensive experience with alternative website builders like Shopify – the MuseThemes core website is built on Shopify – could be easily captured and offered to our members. We are dying to show you how to build a powerful site like MuseThemes, complete with professional blogs, forums, and recurring billing ecommerce – all without writing any code (we’ll handle that part for you).

Business as Usual at MuseThemes

Muse will always be our first true love, and business at MuseThemes will carry on as always. Without Code is a new addition to our company, not a replacement, and a single membership will give you access to all of our MuseThemes resources and Without Code website creation tools.

Muse is an amazing tool for creating sites visually, but we all know it’s lacking in functionality and flexibility. The “Mucow” system in Muse (what we use to build widgets) hasn’t been updated in several years, and we’re butting up against the limits of how far we can push the platform while maintaining stability.

With our in-house development and design teams, combined with a new platform to help share our knowledge, we can help guide you down the best path for your personal or client sites. And you can rely on us to remove many of the obstacles you may encounter as a non-coder.

How Does Without Code Membership Work?

Membership pricing and billing details will be available as soon as we finish development and launch the complete site. MuseThemes memberships can be quickly transferred to Without Code, so that you can access both content libraries along with our new tools. Previous MuseThemes members will also be able to use our new resources and website creation tools at a significant VIP discount.

We sincerely appreciate your many years of loyalty and support, and we intend to reward you for it!

Well I’m Excited!

Us too! Over the next few weeks and months we’ll begin rolling out our new Without Code product lines and demonstrating the power of our new tools and resources. As always, thanks for being an awesome MuseThemes member and for helping us grow this new area of our business.

Cheers,

Steve I’m a client of Muse-Themes and I’m very happy with my membership, I’m wondering if being a member of Muse-Themes will also grant me access to Without Code without no extra payments? Bless you guys and keep up the good work!

In the last two years I have stopped offering web design because of Muse limitations. Now, I could reconsider with this announcement. I am looking forward to know more about.

Curious and excited.

I have 4 annual subscriptions including the company that provides muse / WP mergers. In all this time I was able to compare the good and the bad of their products. I love Muse and I will not leave it, but it’s good to know about other options. Whatever happens, I support you Steve!

Okay, I have to agree with Daniel Maier comments on Feb. 27. I’m concerned that my investment in MT has been diluted into an offshoot project that if I want to use will require more training and investment. I feel there are plenty of MT widgets that need updating and many need connections to Google Sheets. Any time WE have to deal with data-hungry widgets like SEO or Media Galleries we need to go back and forth a gazillion times to get the information in there. Connecting to Sheets would have been a true service to your customers. It would have been going the extra mile. We have and are invested in Muse. If we wanted something else we would have shopped for it. I think MT should launch or should have launched a faster tech support system than it has now. I’ve seen it from time to time but I know the popup chat is just there to capture new subscribers. I’m sceptical and annoyed, to be honest, but I will wait and see what you guys do. It would have to be over the top and frankly if the 3-day tech support and incomplete widgets are a track record I am worried, to say the least. Let’s just say whatever you put together will need to blow Muse out of the water and more. No “we’ll be adding that feature soon” stuff. It will have to be kick-ass, not half-assed.

Feeling a little cheated perhaps at this news, parly as I’ve felt that my MT subscription isn’t producing the content promised and has grown stagnant over time, and I took up my subscription with the promise of ‘Agent’ which never manifested, but also as I feel my subscription has also been funding this project, and I already pay for my Adobe Muse platform.

I have two questions:

Can you guarantee that Muse Themes subscribers will be allowed access to your new initiative?

Can you guarantee that my subscription is still funding new and exciting products for my Adobe Muse platform and that this will continue to do so?

Please respond.

Kind regards

Christian

Where will we stand with existing websites designed in Muse?

Absolutely brilliant idea. In the past year or so, I have noticed the unfortunate pattern of Adobe’s lazy attitude toward their website service line. Must not be lucrative for them. Adobe Muse is an amazing application, but it’s obvious Adobe is going in a different direction (XD). I see Muse going the way of GoLive. I’ve seen this routine before. Is Musethemes seeing this pattern as well? I think you are recognizing a need and fulfilling it. Let me know how I can help ; ) Thanks for the update!

If its well priced, I look forward to embracing WC (I hope it doesn’t end up in the WC). When can we expect it? As good as Muse is there is frustrations…

I am concerned on several levels too. I am quite disappointed with the tech support of MT as there are still a number of widgets that desperately need updating and currently are unusable. This extra venture will take time away from this.

Also – I have been over to te wocode.com website and there isn’t really much on it to go on other than a description and membership details. Surely people want to see the interface and trial the system before they commit? I think you have showed your hand too early before a finished product.

I really hope that existing MT members will get some degree of incentive as otherwise I think you will struggle to get this project off the ground.

will adobe-muse websites transfer to this & will membership cost more ie. separate /additional cost.

i’m intrigued by this new service but i do hope that you ll also continue to support muse by classical widgets just as you did, and that “without code” will support foreign langages like french. i’ve seen sites that changed their services over the years and if was sometimes not for the good. musethemes and muse for tou are today the only sites i’m buying stuff from. and i do hope to continue.

will without code be another WEBFLOW website builder? if so I could give it a try.. I have been using Muse but am afraid Adobe will cut the core in the future, why I dont know I just have that feeling. I love muse and I hope it will get better but we will just sit and wait….. lets hope for the best. this new without code sounds interesting I just subscribe to their newsletter. if without code can take my web design to a higher level. AM IN !!!

I also hope the quality of your muse themes and widgets stays the same!!!! But besides that, I was also forced to use a different system sometimes, because my customers wanted to change more on their side, than what is possible with inbrowser-editig :-(
For me a without-code system ist perfect, because I can put the focus on the Design and I´m a just a designer. And that´s what most of my clients want – a unique styled webpage – no one cares about the code behind and who wrote it. So I´m very, very exited about your new project! :-D

I Love your Ideas! You solved so many problems I had with Muse by using your Widgets. Now I am very excited to try out “Without Code”. Could be a really big thing. Keep on … You are the best!

Good to see new developments – we all have to evolve. Just don’t go down the route that MuseGrid took. They insisted on a huge increase in their membership and really didn’t offer what they set out to do with the quality expected (and they are a very male orientated business with little time for supporting their female members – a very sexist lot. They blocked me from their facebook page for questioning the rude comments made by male members to myself and other female members – I could go on, but I won’t).

I’m working with Shopify clients now too, it’ll be great to have more usability within that platform with new widgets to install into the Shopify sites. Can you please sort out a blog option that can be added to Muse that doesn’t cost me and my clients a huge amount extra every month. Surely there must be a way to do this. Or maybe there is and I’m not aware of it.
Cheers,
Cathie

Love this. Very curious. Beyond basic functionality, the cultural tone in any company is what I look for. I like MT. I like the enthusiasm and the vibe. I am optimistic. Please hurry. ;—)

I personally am not sure what all these limitations with Muse are, beyond clients updating their own websites. Frankly, how well does that work with WordPress anyway? Let’s be real. Most clients get overwhelmed and don’t use the thing they demand at the brief, or you see the tell-tale too-long headline in the live site busting out of its designated spot in the template for it., etc.

Muse-Themes, I wish you would stay focused on Muse widgets, and continue doing that well, or should I say even better. A competitor of yours has a blog widget that works with Business Catalyst. I got the sense from Muse-Themes Connect Series documentation that BC was too closed/limited for stuff like that. I’m sorry. Love you, Muse-Themes, I hope you will prove me wrong, but as an existing subscriber, as mentioned by others here, you’re going to have to make it very easy for me to want to learn yet something else,

Hi Steve,
really, did you know that Adobe would stop the support and close Muse when you decided to build this project?
I found it fantastic and I’m looking forward to have it.
One thing! Is that possible the Architect or any of your widgets to convert muse file to this new system?
As you understand it is not possible to re-make all my web sites making in Muse to this new w/o builder.

Best regards
Erik

Adobe will announce that they are killing Muse today :(…
I just read Danny Beaumont’s comment on the prerelease forum.

Well Muse is Dead now. Being a business consultant for more than 35 years…I told ya so. Adobes Poor response to customer support …move to Banglagore (Remember Dell support…not good)
Muse was a great idea with the wrong people managing it. Too bad. With Word Press being the dominant platform …with tons of support and how to videos it’s no wonder. The third party ride is over. Good luck with WO Code.

Very interested in how this shapes up against WordPress and the many other web-based page editors. Muse-themes has been a great help over the years – even more so than Adobe have been with their own product!

Hi Steve this looks really exciting and I can’t wait for the launch! Obviously you must have seen the ‘writing on the wall" with Muse I got the email from them yesterday (in Australia) and thought they were going to drop Muse as no support or updates for a while. I am happy to still have my MuseThemes membership and the new No Code one. Your widgets are fantastic and have helped me out a lot it’s just a pity Adobe are dropping Muse.

Dean

Hi Guys.
Your timing is impeccable. Adobe’s trust factor went from 100 to zero in one email. If you introduced a small program to replace Photoshop (Things like simple image sizing, cropping with a few touch up tools ) I will cancel my Adobe CC in a heartbeat.
Your new venture sounds great. Just looked at your wocode landing page. Love the stary spiderweb animated effect.
Looking forward to your platform.

I’m PO’d with Adobe right now… more than usual. They state support will end for Muse in about a year. Well, their support won’t be missed because it was basically nonexistent. If you have more info and status on your new W/O please share because I have to start on a fairly large site almost right away and as it stands now I’m going to brush up on my WordPress skills again.

After the disgraceful decision by Adobe this is a ray of hope there are going to be thousands of people looking for a direct replacement I really hope this is the product good luck with it and I look forward to seeing it when it goes live

Will we be able to migrate current Muse sites to w/o code? If so, I most likely will be a w/o code customer. I am having a hard time figuring out what to tell my clients and especially my new clients – I am ready to build 3 new sites and they like the idea of being able to edit their sites within browsers. This was a huge seller!!!!!!

Inhave been with you guys for a long time but decided to not extend my subscription this year. Not because of you, but because I felt like Muse was dying and it happened. It makes me so sad and my portfoliomaterial on BC hasn’t been working anymore.

I have to decide wether or not to continue, will I be able to jump back in for my additional price? Will new pricing and subscriptions be available? I wouldn’t want to throw away 5 years of work just like that..

Have I understood this correctly. I currently pay subs for widgets supporting what will become an obsolete platform, but the good news is that I can fork over more cash for another service you are launching. Really?

Steve: Like millions of other bereft Muse users, I’m searching around for a Muse alternative. I own and run a busy design and marketing company in Clearwater, Florida (but I’m originally from Saskatoon, Sask.—nearly next door to Calgary). MuseGrid is recommending WebFlow, and it looks pretty good. You’ve now got WoCode in development, but I need to know more about it before I spend time researching it.

Here’s my main question: Will WoCode allow switching between design and code modes? I never want to use a program that has no code access ever again.

Muse was great for its speed and simplicity, but many times clients wanted me to make code adjustments that I simply couldn’t do in Muse. Most of the time I didn’t need to do that, but several large jobs for large clients became a nightmare because I had no code access.

I worked with Muse for over 5 years and was on the beta team for over 4 years. It was the focal point of our web design department, and its cancellation has left me in potentially serious trouble with my clients. I have over 100 sites that will need to be rebuilt in whatever platform I choose next (and I’m not looking forward to that HUGE amount of work).

Second question: Will WoCode be able to import existing Muse sites? I can use the Export to HTML in Muse, and hopefully WoCode will be able to import existing HTML. Muse couldn’t do this and it was a major problem. It meant rebuilding existing sites from scratch in Muse. I DON’T want to have to do that in WoCode.

To see my work and level of skill, visit my site at www.DesignStrategies.com. If you’re interested, please give me a call at 727-466-6888 to talk over the project and program.

Hey Steve & Company,
We just reviewed your intro video on Engineer and Architect. These look like great replacements for MUSE. We are excited to begin porting our MUSE-built websites to the new platform (we understand that we may have to rebuild them…that’s OK). When you do think we will be able to begin using the new system?
Please advise,
Thanks!

Muse Themes Team it’s looking promising! And the fact that you’re keeping all of the Muse users in mind with transitioning over existing sites, code, client cms along with hosting platform and much more is an added bonus. Does the team have a rough idea when we can expect the product will be available to the public? Also, what kind of customer support will be available? You just made this whole Muse and Business catalyst disaster so much more promising with your new Architect product being built! Thank you for not leaving us hanging.
