Powerful New Feature added to MuseThemes.com – Favorites
We’re very excited to add an all-new feature to the MuseThemes.com website: Favorites. We think this site functionality will be a huge benefit for our members.
Favorites will allow you to save any product you like, and store it in a permanent list. You can keep as many lists as you like, making this feature great for current and future projects alike. And to help manage favorites, we’ve also integrated a new account login status indicator, accessible from any page with a simple dropdown.
Let’s take a closer look at Favorites:
Collection Pages
There are several pages on the MuseThemes website that we refer to as “Collection Pages.” Any page where you see a bunch of image thumbnails for products – Widgets, Themes, WireFrames, etc. – is a Collection Page.
When you’re logged into the site, you’ll see a few different options when you hover over a product thumbnail. You may be familiar with the details and download buttons, but look in the upper-right corner of the thumbnail. You will now see a grey outlined heart icon. Clicking this button instantly adds the product to your favorites list. Once added, the heart icon becomes solid blue.
Product Pages
Once you’ve read the details of a product on it’s individual page, you may realize it may be useful in an upcoming project. Add the product to your favorites by clicking on the orange “Add to Favorites” link just below the product title, beside the Live Preview link.
Much like the thumbnail favorites button seen on collection pages, once you see the heart icon go from an outline to solid, the product has been added to your favorites.
New Account Login Status Indicator
Once you’re logged in to the site, you will see an all-new login status indicator on the right side of the top menu. Click the small triangle to open a dropdown revealing quick links to several handy account and membership tools, including a link to your favorites lists.
This new login status indicator is persistent, meaning it will always be visible on any page as long as you’re logged in. If you’re not yet logged in, you will see a "Log In" and a "Join Now" button. One important thing to note: favorites are only available when you’re logged in. But don’t worry; favorites are available to all membership types, including our free limited accounts.
Managing Favorites Lists
During the planning stages of our favorites system, we discussed how we could create genuine usefulness and value for our members. This meant having the ability to add any product to a favorites list instantly at any time, from anywhere on the site. To take things a couple steps further, we knew that creating multiple lists and social sharing would be essential. So let’s discuss favorites lists…
Once you access your favorites page, you will find all the favorites you’ve saved so far. Initially, all favorites are saved to a default list named “My Favorites.” You can create additional lists by clicking the “+ New List” button.
To view and manage multiple favorites lists, click the “Your Lists” button. You will be shown all the lists you’ve created, along with associated details. You may open lists or delete lists in this view. Once you select a list, you will see all the products in the list and next to each product are several options:
- Eye Icon: Takes you to the item’s product page.
- “Add Note” Button: Allows you to create notes for any product. These notes are only seen by you.
- “Move to List” Button: Allows you move the item to any other list you’ve created.
- Trash Can Icon: Deletes the item.
Note: Favorites are always added to the last list that was selected. So in order to switch the list that you’re adding items to, visit your favorites page, select a list, and then return to browsing products.
Social Sharing
The last thing we’ll touch on is social sharing. Conveniently located in the menu on your favorites page is a “Share” button. This button allows you to share the selected list to a bunch of social channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and more. Additionally, favorites lists may be emailed or printed.
We hope you find the new favorites feature to be useful. Use it to make note of themes that would be perfect for certain clients, or make lists of widgets that will save loads of time in your next website build. As usual, thanks for reading and be sure to let us know in the comments below how you are using MuseThemes favorites!
Nice! Thank you
