Muse 2017.1 Support & Bug Information
Many users have reported issues and bugs with the new 2017.1 release of Adobe Muse that has made working with their existing projects extremely challenging. Several of these bugs also impact the functionality of MuseThemes widgets.
Adobe is aware of these issues, and they have provided some workaround suggestions and a small widget fix in the meantime. While we wait for them to issue an official update to the application, we recommend you roll back to the previous release of Muse if you wish to take advantage of our widgets (or are having issues working in the 2017.1 build).
Here are some important tips, links and information you may find helpful if you're struggling with the new release:
1. Backup / Version Your Muse Files
If you've updated to 2017.1 and opened an existing client site, we don't recommend saving over the site. Save the file as a new version, or copy / paste the Muse file as a backup periodically. Muse is notorious for not allowing you to open a newer file in an older version, and if you need to roll back to the previous Muse your files need to be compatible.
2. Rolling back to an older version of Muse
If you've downloaded the new version and found it negatively impacted your existing projects, you can easily rollback to the last version of Muse. Within the creative cloud desktop application, you'll see "previous versions" listed under the "find additional apps" menu, and you can select how far back you would like to go.
For detailed instructions on reinstalling the old Muse, check out this post from Adobe:
3. Vertical Shift Bug
The most prominent bug in the new release causes elements that are pinned to shift on export, typically 50px vertically. Adobe has released a small Mulib (widget) file that you can drop on your canvas to help fix this issue.
Here is a download link to the Vertical Shift Fix mulib created by Adobe:

4. Other Issues
In addition to the bug above, users have reported that the new version is not "pushing" their content down appropriately. This will impact widgets such as Media Pro Gallery which need to dynamically resize. If you have run into this issue, check out the link below for some workaround suggestions from Adobe. Keep in mind these are workarounds, so if it looks like a lot of work to implement them you're better off rolling back to the last version of Muse.

2017.1 and MuseThemes Widgets
Before our team can start to investigate any reported incompatibilities between the 2017.1 release and our widgets, we need to wait and see what Adobe does about the issues reported above. To workaround these Muse bugs, several of our widgets may need a complete overhaul – which may be unnecessary if Adobe issues a quick update to the application addressing them.
While we wait for an update, we'll continue to release new products and content that is fully compatible with the prior Muse release, 2017.0. Our files will be outputted on the old version, so there will be no need for you to upgrade to use our latest offerings.
We will continue to send you updates with new information and suggestions as Adobe makes them known to us.
Thanks!
~Steve

I was working in a new site and was unable to see anything in preview mode, preview page, or preview site. Was off to the kitchen for another cup of coffee when I saw your email. I glad that your have made us aware of the issues, but why haven’t we heard from Adobe. This is their issue, don’t you think. Thanks again.
I have destroyed my whole project with this update.
Also the update has destroyed my trust towards Adobe.
I really hope for a new update asap, because I am about to face a deadline.
I recommend you all not to update your Muse version!
Adobe’s QA seems to be getting worse and worse with each release. Thanks very much for the heads-up!
Outstanding timely response Steve !
I wish Adobe would adopt your incredible customer support and communication skills with customers ….thank you
I was trying to get the pop up pro to work but it will only load at the right bottom of the page. Could this be from the new update to Muse?
Thanks so much for the info! I wish Adobe would do the same. They haven’t reached out to me as far as I know. You guys are a great company. Adobe could learn something from you!
Thank you, Steve, for the update! I’ve run into these issues as well and have figured out work-arounds before finding out these were existing bugs. At least I can rest a little easier in knowing it wasn’t me or my machine.
Keep up the great work!
Regards!
Thank you for the heads up!
We truly appreciate all the hard work you and your team put in to Musethemes. I’ve tried to get Adobe’s attention in regards to feature updates to no avail for over six months. Perhaps you can put a bug in their ear. It would be extremely useful if I could move an entire pages content and structure (copy the page structure and content and drag into another muse file) or some other useful form of collaboration. So often our team is working on a project that needs collaboration and the lack of this option makes it so much more difficult. Didn’t mean to bend your ear with something you have no control over but we really like Muse it’s just missing some very useful features.
THANK YOU! You guys bring on top of this stuff is a HUGE help to our agency!
Thanks again and keep up the GREAT work,
Jay
Thanks for the suggestions. I was recently asking all the mentioned items and now they are answered properly.
For crying out loud, why did Adobe enable download of 2017.1 if it was buggy. Personally I wish they wouldn’t incrementally improve Muse several times a year. Better once or twice a year with really good and big tested improvements. Am I the only one thinking this?
A massive thanks to Muse Themes for alerting me to this issue before I updated a number of projects and inevitably struggled with the bugs! Also, a massive “whoops” to Adobe… How does an update like this make it out of the barn?
Thank you Steve, and thanks to all the Musetheme group for your support.
It’s a shame that Adobe makes similar mistakes, I had to go back to the previous version.
I hope that Adobe will soon solve all of these bags and put in conditions for staff as you work.
Thanks again
Gianni
Thanks for the heads up. It’s disgraceful that Adobe should release such a buggy update. We pay a lot of money for a high end product and shouldn’t have to deal with things like this. They need to get their act together.
Thank you for your fast assistance with these issues. I haven’t noticed any problems yet, but just know that they are out there and how to reinstall the previous version gives me piece of mind, and I don’t see Adobe putting out this kind of helpful info to their paying customers… unless I missed it. Thanks again!
Thanks for the info! Hopefully, Adobe will push a bug-free version of muse soon!
Thanks for the update!
Thanks for the info. It is great to know you are a step ahead.
What is up with Adobe these days? I had similar, and catastrophic issues, with an update to Premiere Pro CC. It seems as though their quality control is not at all what is once was, and they are pushing out updates without thoroughly testing them. They HAD to have known about these issues when they released this update. Makes no sense. Thanks Steve and everyone at Musethemes for being such a great resource!
Steve, Thanks for going the extra email and posting this update.
It was a real downer to see and have these issues. Hopefully I fix well come soon.
Muchas gracias por avisar, nos ahorramos horas y dias de sufrimiento,
Thank you very much for warning us, we saved hours and days of suffering,
Back grading now to the previous version, don’t need any more hassle in my life!
What a #FAIL for the Muse team.
Thanks for the update, since I do a lot of my project in beta version is was know to me.
sometimes is help to reposition the elements en save the project, or or cut en past them on place.
One of the major problems is the muse team does not communicate with there testers.
Thanks for keeping us updated. As all the others, I would have expected this warning to come directly from Adobe.
On the long run, our company will turn her back on Adobe. I find it horrible and destructive to just publish a new release without thoroughly testing ist. That has happened many times in the past and we are already checking out alternative software. For video editing, color correcting etc. we already tested blackmagic´s RESOLVE, which is working way better and is a good deal on top of it. We´re still testing other software to replace Muse and all the other Adobe programs. More people should get together and try to cut out on Adobe. That´s the only way to make them listen. I could scream and shout at the moment, because I´m sitting on three jobs for customers, which are all screwed up now. I have to deliver and will spend my weekend with workarounds. WHO PAYS FOR THE TIME I AM WASTING ON ADOBE CRAP? Nobody!!!
There is no way on the planet I would now trust Adobe with their new major updates. I will always wait for the dust to settle from now on before updating anything. Glad I haven’t updated yet on this one. Great suggestions and tips Steve. It must be so frustrating for you guys trying to keep up with it all. Cheers mate
Thanks for posting this. Sadly, I upgraded and continued working on the project, and probably can’t go backwards now. I’ve always been an Adobe Fan Girl, but they are really trying my patience at this point. Its one thing to have a few minor bugs in a release, but its another to have something as glaring and important as the “pinned item vertical shift” make it through QA without a single person catching it. All that said, your team is awesome — as always. Thanks for all you do.
I usualy don’t update to fast… but I did last week… and I was not able to downgrade my Muse app. I have a website that is a mess now. Can’t wait to have good news!
Have they released an update fixing these issues yet?
Any idea when we can expect that update…. I really need to finalise something is started…
Thanks for posting this.
Any update on these bugs fixes from Muse? I’m having a nightmare at the moment. My muse app is now crashing all the time when trying to upload as well as other issues since the update. It’s making my life hell.
Any updates? I’ve held off on updating my Muse purely as a result of this article (with thanks BTW!), but am starting to get tempted by the new features & performance.
I’m curious about where they stand on the bug fixes, backward compatibility (will my existing projects fall apart if I upgrade?) Reverse compatibility (will I be able to open ‘converted’ sites if I end up rolling back?)
After days and nights of crying and cursing I feel somewhat relieved by this message and the tips… Thanks!
